Kathrin Meise is a singer, dancer, musician and writer from Germany....and by next year she will be a teacher also!
Kathrin studied the Diploma in Rudolf Steiner Education with us in 2007. She wanted to develop a way of teaching that recognizes multi-cultural identities within everyone and by drawing on indigenous practices such as story telling, dance, mentoring and tutoring of students and a general practical approach to learning. Steiner’s education refers back to all of these.
Kathrin said It was vital for her to take a spiritual approach to teaching and through getting involved with anthroposophy and anthropological ideas of teaching she found her vision realized.
"I experienced Taruna as a loving, warm environment. My stay and study taught me how important it is for teaching to fearlessly give to the community and to share your vision with others."
Before she came to Taruna, Kathrin studied English, German and Pedagogy at the University of Cologne in Germany. She was also involved in second language teaching in 4 different schools in England (Surrey) and worked as a journalist and performer in Germany.
Kathrin is currently completing her teacher training at Victoria University in Wellington to complete her registration and will be seeking employment as a teacher in a Waldorf school in New Zealand by the end of this year.
