Page Name: Organics and Biodynamics |
The organic and biodynamic movement, arising in early-middle 20th century and currently growing strongly in New Zealand, strives to develop production systems which are less reliant on external inputs and which produce food of the highest nutritional quality. The BIO-GRO and Demeter certification trade marks arose in the 1980’s and licenses are now held by many producers serving both local and export organic and biodynamic markets. OFNZ (Organic Farm New Zealand) arose in the late 1990’s in response to the needs of smaller organic producers producing primarily for the domestic market.
