Taruna College New Zealand is a centre for Adult Education offering an exciting range of formal and informal holistic courses and subjects inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner PhD. such as: Waldorf Teacher Education, Biodynamic Organic Agriculture, Anthroposophical Nursing, Art of Health and Coaching and Biography Workshops.

    

     The Young Child

How to awaken a child's will soul forces in the first seven years of life.

  • Discovering our twelve senses and awakening the will.
  • Down to earth: conception, birth, crawling, standing upright hands free, speaking, thinking, and remembering. 
  • The young child's innate trust in the goodness of the world - imitation and creative (experimental) play, fairy tales, storytelling and puppetry, circle activities. 
  • Eurythmy for young children.
  • Appropriate toys, books, stories, songs, finger plays and games. 
  • The three R's of the Kindergarten: Rhythm, Rhyme, and Repetition. 
  • The drawings and paintings of children under 7. 
  • Art and Craftwork for young children.
  • The kindergarten environment inside and outside – why? 
  • Readiness for learning - time for school? 
  • Discipline – teacher, parent, child – inner and outer expectations.
  • Visits to local Steiner Early Childhood centres.
