Programme Topics
A foundation will be given on the following themes.
Curriculum: How and when various subjects are taught; how they meet the developmental needs of children and affect their disposition towards health. This includes:
Practical Arts – painting, modelling, drawing;

Speech and Language, our most human attribute – includes the art of creating and telling stories in the classroom; exploring imaginative, descriptive and instructional written and oral language; grammar as the backbone of language;
Mathematics – supporting understanding through a holistic and creative approach;
Science – from phenomena to concept through observation and thinking, and relevancy to life around us;
History – and the arts, from ancient civilisations to modern times.
Rhythms of Life: Daily including Morning Circle, weekly and seasonally.
Anthropology and Physiology: the human as physical embodiment of soul and spirit, and our relationship to the mineral, plant and animal kingdoms. The organisation of the human being, children’s constitutions, temperaments, and the twelve senses.
Foundations of Waldorf Education: Rudolf Steiner’s indications and practical advice for
teachers including the development of the inner life of the teacher.
Education as an Art: the teacher as the ‘artist’ conducting the ‘orchestra’ of the class – celebrating the difference and harmony of children in the class. The ‘breathing’ dynamic lesson, including artistic and craft activities for personal development, and to develop skills and resources for the classroom.
