Programme Structure

Spread over a total of 32 weeks, this programme is considered to be part-time and equivalent to 0.33 of a full-time course. This programme includes 3 full-time seminars of 7 days’ duration, beginning at 5pm on the first Friday and finishing at 12.30pm the following Friday. Each of the 6 consecutive full days requires 8.30am to 4.30pm attendance. All other directed study is home based. The Certificate in Rudolf Steiner Education supplies 40 credits and is NZQA-approved at Level 4.

As a guide, participants need to allow a minimum of 5 – 8  hours per week of self-directed study outside of the seminar weeks. Please note that as a 40-credit programme, there is an associated notional value of 400 hours’ learning and study altogether.

On-site seminar learning will include:

workshops, small group processes, lectures and discussions, artistic experience through a variety of media, and exploration through movement.

Self-directed home-based study will need a minimum commitment of 5-8 hours per week. Projects and assignments will include:

artistic exercises, recording observations and processes, contemporary issues investigation, short research projects and essays.

Record of Studies

At the end of the programme each participant will be issued with a Record of Studies listing the modules and their personal performance.

The Programme Directors will keep attendance records and give verbal feedback at the end of each seminar. Students are also expected to give evaluative feedback at the end of each seminar. Important criteria for having a module credited to your Record of Studies are attendance, personal participation and completion of assignments. Attendance is expected to be 100% for any given module and assignments to be satisfactorily completed before credit is awarded. Progression through the seminars requires successful completion of the prior seminar.

At the successful completion of the year and its requirements, participants will be issued with the Certificate in Rudolf Steiner Education.
