Entry Requirements
Applicants for this programme should have:
- good academic ability;
- a particular interest in Rudolf Steiner Waldorf education;
- some experience teaching or working with or parenting children;
- maturity gained through some years of adult life and work experience or study;
- the energy, enthusiasm and good physical and mental health to complete a year’s intense study.

Those applicants preparing for employment as a teacher or for professional development should have:
- a teaching qualification Bachelor of Education or similar (teachers in New Zealand need a university teaching degree).
- Applicants without a tertiary qualification may be accepted at the discretion of the Faculty Carrying Group – so please enquire.
If considering teaching at a secondary level, a specialist tertiary qualification, experience or training related to the major subjects to be taught, needs to be achieved.
Those applicants for whom English is not a first language must provide an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) results card and have achieved an overall band score of not less than 6.0. Where IELTS is not available, an equivalent test of English must be provided. For further clarification of this please contact Taruna. [Those wishing to teach in New Zealand will be required by the NZ Teachers’ Council to achieve level 7.0]
The participant may undertake practice in a New Zealand classroom; English then needs to be good enough to speak and communicate confidently with children of all ages.
